Crown Resorts has been given a clean bill of health by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission who say they are considered suitable to hold on to their licence. The two-year term of a ‘Special Manager’ will end in June this year. The VGCCC hit Crown with total penalties of $120 million for its breaches at its Melbourne casino. The fine was on top of another penalty from Austrac for breaches of anti-money laundering and counter terrorism reporting laws. The move to allow them keep their licence comes in stark contrast to Australia’s other largest casino operator Star who had its latest CEO resign after the New South Wales regulator said there is doubt the company is capable, right now, of remediating itself without the influence of its special administrator.
